Our Haiti Ministry Kids Alive Haiti has been making steady progress in rescuing children at risk here in the northern city of Cap Haitien. In February of 2004 we opened our first home with 4 children. That home now has 12 beautiful, energetic children who are being loved and cared for by their house parents, Philippe and Fifi Morency. They have done an awesome job of gelling these children together as a family. In December we opened our second home under the care of Celondieu and Floranie Georges. Another couple, Adam and Edlyne Joseph, took in two little boys, Anderson 5 and Rudlin 3, when we didn't have a place for them. They now have requested to keep the boys with plans of adopting them in the future. For now they are under the Kids Alive Haiti sponsorship program. Due to the poor quality of most Haitian schools, we started a small school with only our Kids Alive kids. Madame Nahomie has made a good start at giving the children the education they need. Since January, Helen Froese has taken on the responsibility of teaching kindergarten and remedial classes in the Froese home. Our goal is to obtain property in the near future to construct homes for our Kids Alive Haiti families and the directors and a community school. The need is very great here. We could easily fill a third home by the end of the year if home sponsors become available. We are also hoping to increase our missionary family to make it easier to cover all of the responsibilities well as we grow. The Lord is already blessing us with some short-termers and we hope that more full-time missionaries will be joining us as well. God is blessing us and taking good care of us in spite of the challenging country we are in. |
